This is a terrible design. This is the second time I have had to replace this part. The S-shaped metal piece that fits in the handle breaks. It doesn't work the way it was designed, so I end up trying to come up with work-around solutions.

from NW MFG: Sorry to hear you had issues with the lanyard cable. We have about 20k machines in the field and only ship out a small number of these cables annually. This said, we prefer a '0' failure rate and are looking to remove this cable in future model releases.
I looked through your records and could not find a purchase of a Powertow machine. Since it looks like this might have been a 2nd-hand machine, please check the following:
1) Review this alignment guide - alignment is the #1 breaker of cables http://www.powertow.com/Aircraft-Adaptor-Alignment-Guide_ep_58.html
2) check hole in clamping handle to make sure it has no burrs or corrosion. A little bit of grease may go a long way to prevent future breaks.
3) you are always welcome to call us to discuss both new and used machines.
Thank you for your feedback

exact replacement, easy to install. $30 strikes me as a bit dear for this simple cable.

Replacement cable is perfect. Original cable failed when end spring came out of tug arm. Cable was then loose and draped across battery. Cable completed circuit and melted. I didn't notice arcing and burned my hand pretty good when I picked up hot cable. Spring comes out regularly if lever is released too quickly. I purchased tug used.
