About PowerTow

PowerTow builds aircraft tugs in Hayden, Idaho, and we have been doing it since 1974.

Built for the pilot who moves their own airplane

Most of the people we build for own their airplane and move it themselves, usually alone, usually in their own hangar. You know your airplane. You protect it. A tug should help you do that, not put it at risk.

So we pay attention to the details. How the tug fits your nose wheel, how it feels when you start a move, and how it holds up after years of hangar moves. If you tell us what you fly, we will tell you which PowerTow fits. If none of ours is the right fit, we will say so.

Our story

1974. We got our start in Michigan as Phoenix Aviation, building aviation ground support equipment under the PowerTow name.

1975. We moved to Sandpoint, Idaho. Clear skies, mountains, Pend Oreille Lake, and good aviation friends made it an easy choice, and we had many good years there.

1984. The company became Northwest Mfg., Inc. The PowerTow name stayed, and it is still what pilots know us by.

2008. Our line kept growing, including the Lazy Susan SuperTow, and we needed more manufacturing space. We moved about 45 miles south to the Coeur d'Alene area, another great aviation community. We kept many of our people, and with them our standards for how we build and how we do business.

Today. We build in Hayden, Idaho. In 2025, Dustin Bebout became the owner. The work has not changed. Build it right, stand behind it, and pick up the phone when a customer calls.

What we build

We manufacture aircraft tugs, including the SuperTow, ThunderVolt, and 40EZ, along with aircraft hook up kits and aviation spares kits. Every one is designed and built by Northwest Mfg., Inc. in the United States. See the PowerTow lineup.
